As the number of web-enabled devices continues to grow, each with differing capabilities and features, it’s no longer sensible to build fixed-width websites.
Until now it was considered best practice to design experiences that made a number of assumptions, be they around screen resolution, bandwidth or input method. Now, with smartphones and tablets thrown into the mix, it’s clear that traditional methods are no longer fit for purpose.
So along with new CSS options we can now build sites that look great on Desktops, Tablets and Phones, rather that requiring separate mobile sites.
Our first example of this is our own site www.doyoucompute.co.uk the site automatically resizes itself to the browser size. You can test this by resizing your browser down and you can see the site change automatically.
